Online and Distance Learning Program

Are you interested in starting your studies at SCU right away?  If so, there is no need to wait.  All SCU programs can be completed through SCU's Online and Distance Learning Program.  The  Distance Learning Program is not tied to the semester system for on-campus students; therefore, you may begin your studies as soon as the admission and registration processes are completed.  Other  advantages of the Distance Learning Program are the courses can be completed faster due to your own  schedule and pace, and you can take advantage of the "Life Experience" credit program (below).  So if you hope to attend SCU, but think you have to wait for a new semester  to start, don't be mislead.  The Distance Learning Program is independent of the SCU on-campus semester system. Contact the Admissions Department for more  information and assistance on the Distance Learning Program.

However, if at any time you require personalized assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.  Our students, and potential students, are important to us, and every member of our organization is available when assistance is needed.

The Student's Pathway to Admission

The competency level of a prospective student is evaluated by review of the individual's application for admission and a portfolio. The portfolio includes a detailed ministerial/occupational resume, official transcripts and other documents supporting previous academic work, and specialized training certificates. Evaluation of each individual's portfolio of documents is the key component for acceptance of an individual into an independent and individualized degree program for either undergraduate or graduate work. The evaluation is planned to determine whether an applicant has the appropriate educational background, occupational accomplishment and attitudinal motivation necessary to function effectively in an independent, individualized educational environment. Motivation is a fundamental factor for determining whether an individual can successfully function in this type of learning situation.

International Students

Foreign-International students from non-English speaking countries must submit the results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) as administered by the Educational Testing Service at TOEFL Services, PO Box 6161, Princeton, New Jersey 08541-6161.  A score of 550 (paper based exam) or 213 (computer based exam) is considered acceptable. Smith Christian University's TOEFL Code Number is 4205.
