The number of educational institutions around the world is so vast that transfer of credits with each and every one is a virtual impossibility. For that, transferability is treated on an individual basis as needed.
Transferability of credit is at the discretion of the accepting institution, and it is the student's responsibility to confirm whether or not credits will be accepted by another college.
Transfer Credits
Our transfer policy is to accept university, college or seminary credits earned from all the institutions within our educational associations and, eventually, from other qualified institution deemed by our university to be comparable to our curriculum, considered in accord with our academic standards.
In the case of transfer students and students petitioning for credit for previous learning, Smith Christian University will evaluate the curriculum of the other institutions previously attended by the applicants, to determine transferability of credits and degrees. Courses that merited a grade of "C" (2.4+ GPA) or better may be transferred or applied toward the degree credit requirements.
The maximum credit awarded for transfer credits is three semester credits per course, up to the maximum of 50% of the total of credit hours required for the chosen degree program.
Prior Learning Assessment
Study credits for applicable life experience, upon evaluation, may be applied toward course requirements.
Men and women of God who have dedicated their lives to the service of the ministry or their vocation, but have not had the opportunity to pursue formal Bible training or formal academic education in the field of their endeavor, expertise, or vocation, may receive life experience credits.
To qualify, a student must have a minimum of five years in the ministry, in a Christian vocation, or in a profession related to the degree program which the student is applying for.
Upon evaluation of the information given by the student with the application, Smith Christian University may award up to 25% of credit hours for each degree program as credits for life experience.
Transfer to Other Institutions
Quality Christian vocational education institutions, as well as some secular educational institutions, have already accepted our credits. Some universities reserve the right to accept credits from a university with a Christian umbrella, and for this reason, we do not guarantee that any university will transfer our credits.
Transfer to Smith Christian University
Students transferring to Smith Christian University International from another school must provide official academic transcripts for evaluation. Because Smith Christian University deems its courses essential for graduation, a minimum of 30 credits must be completed at Smith Christian University to be granted a degree. Transfer Credit is only considered for courses that meet the following criteria:
-
Minimum grade of C or a 2.00 on a 4.00 grading scale
-
Taken in an acceptable school
-
Applicable to Smith Christian University's programs
The Registrar carefully reviews all cases and retains the right to not accept any credits that do not meet the specific requirements.
