The apostle Paul in commissioning Timothy (his son in the Lord) into the ministry, failed not to remind him of the importance of increased knowledge or continuous study so that he might be able to appropriately and effectively address the spiritual needs of an advancing age and callous generation. So in II Timothy 2:15, he tells him, "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth".
